Post Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover, job interest in Twitter increased by 250 per cent on Glassdoor

It has now been reported that more people are keen to work with Musk after he took over Twitter in a $44 billion deal.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who may become the CEO of Twitter soon, has a huge fanbase. That is primarily because he is extremely responsive on Twitter and his tongue-in-cheek posts are a huge hit amongst the users. It has now been reported that more people are keen to work with Musk after he took over Twitter in a $44 billion deal. As per latest reports, job interest in Twitter increased by 250 per cent on Glassdoor.

In a statement to Fortune, senior economist Daniel Zhao has shared that interest in Twitter jobs on Glassdoor rose 263 percent last week (4/24-4/30), compared to the March 2022 baseline. “Well, the above data is made more relevant by today's news. Say what you will about Elon, he does have a large fanbase of ppl excited to work for him. He's much more likely to capitalize on that attraction as CEO than owner,” Zhao said.

However, the clicks on Glassdoor do not necessarily correlate to actual job applications submitted. The no of clicks show that people are interested in working with Twitter now that Musk has taken over.

On Friday, Musk shared the Fortune article which talks about people’s growing interest in Twitter saying that Twitter will be focused on hardcore software engineering, design, infosec & server hardware.

“I strongly believe that all managers in a technical area must be technically excellent.
Managers in software must write great software or it’s like being a cavalry captain who can’t ride a horse!,” Musk tweeted.

On a related note, Musk may let go of current Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal, who assumed the position only five months ago.Musk will only be the next CEO once the $44 billion deal closes. The information was shared by CNBC’s David Faber. if Musk fires Agrawal within 12 months of a change in control at Twitter, he will have to pay him $43 million.

The employees are scared about their future in Twitter now that Musk has taken over but he remains unfazed by the concerns of people. During the Met Gala event, Musk was asked about a potential exodus of employees, to which he said he is fine if people, who are not comfortable want to leave the company. "Certainly, if anyone doesn't feel comfortable with that, they will on their own accord, go somewhere else. That's fine," he added.
